Under the Neem Tree

I am wearing a cotton sleeveless top paired with cotton pleated culottes. Incidentally, the top is imprinted with flowers and the culottes have leaves prints. And the colors of the print match with each other as they were both purchased from the same collection ( October 2017 story) from Anokhi. Anokhi is known all over India for their distinctive prints and designs and their ongoing revival of traditional and textile skills. They have outlets in most of the cities. Do stop by this link to find the closest Anokhi to you. I love culottes as they are practical yet fashionable. For the longest time, I did not know the difference between gauchos and culottes. So I thought I shall impart the knowledge that I came across in the process. Culottes are cropped pants, which mostly resemble more of a skirt but is bifurcated. Gauchos, on the other hand, are a literal translation of cowboy pants. They are slightly tapered in the bottom.
I accessorized this look with a simple chandbali from PLUSH accessories. They are incredibly economical and come up with a variety of designs suitable for casual Indian wear. I particularly love their nose pins. They deliver all over India as well. I am carrying a cane bag by Alankrit, Chennai. This brand is a brainchild of this talented designer who comes up with handmade (mostly jute and cane) bags and home decor accessories of all kind. I am a major fan of everything handmade so I went ga-ga over her collection when I came across it in a local pop up. You can order stuff over WhatsApp and they deliver it all over India as well. Thirdly, I am wearing denim bow slipons by Feel20, a shoe brand from Chennai who offer well fit, pretty designs. Promoting talented local designers gives me more joy than promoting big brands who already have a place in this industry. Which is why I am doing this without collaboration.
