Dressing Up for South Indian Weddings
Phew! The Wedding season is finally over. South Indian Weddings are all about silk sarees, jasmine flowers, gold jewellery and colors. Kanjivaram silk sarees being the staple here, there are other types like tussar, uppada, banarasi, chanderi, soft silk with which we'd like to experiment too. Most of us manglorean women do not like compensating on the silk sarees, there is always something special about it. A silk sari defines elegance, you don't even have to go overboard with it. What is even better is, we can experiment with the blouse while we pick any sari from our mom's/ grandmom's closet.
This wedding season, I asked my designer to design something in black with golden embroidery so that i can have a liberal choice on the sari I'm wearing. She is so good, she's got this capability of designing something just the way you visualise it in your head! So this time she designed a blouse for me which was inspired by the couture work the amazing Gaurav Gupta. Contact me for more contact information of the designer. Her name is Meenalakshani Adyanthaya ( Boutique: Mummy & Me). Location: Udupi/ Bangalore.
The work was so pretty, I just couldn't wait to show it off. I wore this with a tussar silk saree found buried in my mom's closet. As you can see, I'm very lousy at draping a sari. And the pleats are all over the place. Mastering this art is in my TODO list of 2015 ;)
A sari ensemble can never be complete without a heavy lipstick. I wore the basic red, Pirate from chanel, which is my favorite red BTW. For the cheeks, I used the glossy cream illuminator By Nars in the Orgasm shade and a bit of a the golden eye-shadow palette from the MAC Heirloom Mix 2014 Holiday Collection on the lids and brow bones. And for jewellery, a small gold chandbali and some heavy Kerala plain bangles from my mom's jewellery boutique here in Udupi.
Always make sure that you wear one statement jewellery, like this time I wore my favorite Wall-clocky Rockabilly watch from D&G. And my most handy golden kolhapuris from Colaba Causeway.
After a lot of begging, my sis finally made some time to help me click pictures this time.
Thank you guys for looking at this post. Please don't hesitate to give a feedback.

In an array of washes, fits and styles, denim can take you from an office meeting to an evening out, and everywhere in-between. Finding that perfect pair can be tricky but persevere because once you find them, you'll be lost without them. vday store
